Coleman-Snow is Awarded CE&I on Platt Springs Road

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has awarded Coleman Snow Consultants a construction engineering and inspection contract for the widening of Platt Springs Road, SC 602 in Lexington County. The project is scheduled to being in May 2010 and will last for approximately three years.

The resident engineer for Coleman-Snow will be Alan Wertz, PE. Alan will be supported by Kyle Smiley who will serve as the lead inspector and by Joyce Bell who will be the project administrator. Alan, Kyle, and Joyce have been working for United Contractors, LLC (formerly U.S. Constructors, Inc)

Also supporting Coleman-Snow will be Triplett-King & Associates, F&ME Consultants, HDR and A-Squared Consulting. Eagle Construction Company of Newberry, SC is the prime contractor performing construction roadway activities.

The construction project will widen an existing 5 mile, 2 lane section of roadway to a 5 lane section with curb and gutter and sidewalks.

The project will also include improvements to numerous side roads that intersect with SC 602; the construction of a 600 foot long permanent soil nailed retaining wall with an average height of 13′; the construction of a new box culvert; the relocation of 44 moving items’ and the removal and disposal of another 17 items.
